Knoxville Battery Tech Innovator Soon to be Vetted by DOD Vendors for Non-flammable Lithium Ion Batteries

Knoxville,TN — [February 15th, 2024] — Eonix, a pioneer in next-generation battery technology, recently held a media demo day for ATLAS, the world’s first end-to-end automated materials discovery platform for energy storage, February 8th, at their laboratory in Knoxville, TN. The opening up of ATLAS for media viewing was timed with Eonix’s first cell shipment to DOD vendors for a novel non-flammable lithium ion battery type.

Eonix is revolutionizing battery development cycles, leveraging their ATLAS platform to achieve speeds 40 times faster at 15x cheaper cost than traditional methods. This groundbreaking technology, backed by Army/DOE/NSF/Air Force enables real-time observation of material behavior in batteries, significantly accelerating research and pairing data with advanced quantum mechanics simulations to train AI models. These models predict material performance and suggest novel material candidates, marking a significant leap forward in the quest for safer, more efficient energy storage solutions.

Don DeRosa, CEO of Eonix, expressed his enthusiasm at the event, stating, "We were thrilled to present the advancements of the ATLAS platform to journalists , highlighting our strides in battery technology innovation. Eonix will be instrumental in the future potential of applied-AI to battery tech in order to revolutionize how we supply and consume energy. Beginning by enhancing battery performance for large primes today, we will help pave the way towards a more sustainable and efficient energy future."

Eonix's mission, born from the advanced ATLAS platform, is to design market-specific materials that are decades ahead of their time, ensuring compatibility with batteries manufactured today. This innovation will enable a range of applications, from affordable electric vehicles and fast-charging consumer electronics to safer energy storage solutions for defense applications, contributing to a greener future. Eonix's efforts have been supported by funding from the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, and National Science Foundation.

About Eonix

Eonix is designing next generation batteries decades ahead of most R&D cycles using the world’s first end-to-end automated materials discovery platform for energy storage.Called ATLAS, our platform is 40X faster and 15X cheaper than conventional materials discovery.  Eonix utilizes an innovative sensor that significantly accelerates lab research by allowing real-time observation of material behavior in a battery, generating 3X the data compared to conventional methods. Our data is paired with advanced quantum mechanics simulations to train AI models that predict material performance and suggest novel candidates from a database of industrially available, low cost chemicals.

Eonix’s mission is to design market specific materials, decades ahead of their time, that are drop-in compatible with batteries manufactured today.  This will enable affordable EVs, fast charging consumer electronics, safer energy storage for the Warfighter, and a green future. With funding from the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, and National Science foundation, Eonix has leveraged ATLAS to design a non-flammable lithium ion battery.
